December 16, 2025 | 12:00 – 1:00 PM Prenatal Alcohol Exposure, Substance Use Disorder, and Navigating Recovery
Description:
This presentation will consider substance use disorders (SUD) in adults with prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, contrasting findings from a multisite study examining SUD in middle-aged adults with PAE or FASD with those from the Washington State Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) for mothers with substance use during pregnancy. Ways in which PCAP supports mothers with self-reported prenatal alcohol exposure will be discussed.

Following this presentation, attendees will be able to:
- Summarize SUD-related findings of a multisite study of middle-aged adults with PAE
- Appraise the potential impact of PAE in SUD recovery
- Describe ways in which the Washington State Parent-Child Assistance Program supports parents with PAE in navigating recovery
