The underlying assumption of wellness and recovery promotion in behavioral health services is that behavioral health service providers are working from the perspective of a recovery-oriented system of care (ROSC). ROSC is a coordinated network of community-based services and supports that is person-centered and builds on the strengths and resilience of individuals, families, and communities to achieve improved health, wellness, and quality of life for those with substance use and mental disorders (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. 2011).

Your task, as a provider, is to keep consumers in the center of the conversation and support them in their efforts to actively engage in their own journey of recovery and wellness. This course will examine the principles of recovery-oriented care and some of the strengths based strategies you can employ to support consumers’ journeys.

How it Works

This is a four-week, online course. Each week students are given material to complete online at their convenience during the week. A PDF certificate will be issued upon completion of all course material and a course evaluation. Course assignments must be completed within the week they are assigned.
